Dan and I climbed the North Gully on McClellan Butte on a fine spring day. The snow was soft (movie!) and almost continuous all the way up to the summit rocks, which we simul-climbed (one nut and a couple slings for pro, with a piton protecting the downclimb on the way back out).
Dan skied down in fine style (movie!), avoiding the one hole in the snow with a small stream running through it.
We turned left at the bottom of the gully for some reason and ended up bushwhacking through a clearcut back to a logging road and the trail. It was no fun for Dan, with his skis strapped to his pack. A good day in the subalpine nonetheless.
